This is the first qualification in the judging pathway. Throughout this course you will learn the roles and responsibilities of a judge, how to judge, and how to arrive at a fair score. The course will also focus on the technical and artistic elements of Acrobatics gymnastics. Throughout the course you will gain the ability to judge skills by applying deductions to technical performance and learn how to merit artistic performance.Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to judge at national competitions as a member of the judging panel.
Criteria for Eligibility:
Level 1 - Anyone interested in Acrobatic Gymnastics is eligible to take this course, but you’ll need to be familiar with the discipline.
Candidates booking on this course must be 16 years old and current members of Gymnastics Ireland

Any parent(s)/guardian(s) of a candidate under the age of 18 must complete the online consent form to create an account on LearnUpon. This form must be completed to enrol on the course.

Obligations of a judge

Understanding NDP1 guidelines and structure

Composition of exercises Pre Grade 1– IDP

Understanding the NDP and FIG code of points and tables of difficulty

Execution shorthand
-
Ability to use execution and artistry judging sheets

Judging whole routines
-
Understanding of a tariff sheet, and how to complete a sheet
Exam: Will take place after the course dates
Practical 1 – includes observations of full routines and making the appropriate technical deductions.
Practical 2 – includes observations of full routines and applying the appropriate artistry score.
Theory - includes multiple choice and written questions
Course Venue:
This course will take place online through Zoom. Make sure you have a laptop/desktop device

Saturday 11th October (10.00am - 1.00pm)
Sunday 12th October (5.00pm - 8.00pm)
Wednesday 15th October (6.00pm - 8.00pm) - Exam (theory and practical) 2hrs total
