Description
GymSTART competitions are fun competitions to judge. Gymnasts perform a variety of exciting floor and vault skills specific to GymSTART routines and the vault apparatus. This course will qualify you to judge at any national GymSTART competition.
Throughout the course you will develop the skills necessary to score routines and vault skills correctly. You will learn the importance of judging, judging procedure and getting the score right. This is the ideal starting point to set you on the pathway to becoming a great judge.
Who is it aimed at:

Candidates who are completely new to judging and want to judge at GymSTART competitions on behalf of their club

Candidates who currently have a judging qualification (at any level) from disciplines - Acrobatics, Rhythmic, Trampoline and Tumbling

Brevet judges that do attend are exempt from sitting the exam
Criteria for Eligibility:

Candidates booking on this course must be 16 years old and current members of Gymnastics Ireland

Any parent(s)/guardian(s) of a candidate under the age of 18 must complete the online consent form to create an account on LearnUpon. This form must be completed to enrol on the course.

Must have completed Garda Vetting and Safeguard Training
Course Syllabus:
- What should judges do at competition
- How do judges judge
- What is a deduction
- How many judges do we need
- Using symbols
- Competition rules
- Judging floor exercises
- Judging vault performances
- Disability awareness judging
- How to practice and prepare for the exam
Exam:

The exam will take place online three weeks after the course delivery date (candidates will be enrolled on the exam after they attend the course date)

Practical – includes observations of videos on floor routines and vaults. You will be required to input deductions for 8 floor routines and 8 vaults

Theory - includes 20 questions with multiple choice answers
Course Venue:
The course will be delivered online through zoom. Please login through your LearnUpon account to access the zoom links. It is advised to use a desk or laptop device with good internet access
Course Date:
October 4th - (4.00pm to 9.30pm) 30 minutes break in between
Exam Date:
October 18th - (11.00am to 12.00pm) - you will be enrolled on this exam where you will receive a link to complete the exam online (further details explained on the course)
