New to judging? Never judged before but would like to get involved? Then the new JumpSTART judging courses are for you! JumpSTART competitions are fun participation-based competitions to judge. Gymnasts perform a variety of exciting gymnastics skills specific to the JumpSTART development plan, which includes 4 different disciplines – Acrobatics, Rhythmic, Trampoline and Tumbling.   There is a seperate JumpSTART judging course for each of the four disciplines. Each JumpSTART discipline judging course will qualify you to judge at any national JumpSTART competition in that discipline. The courses are a combination of theory (online) and practical (live judging at the event, with support from more experienced judges). There is no written exam. Once you are deemed competent after judging at your first JumpSTART event, we will sign your attendance log sheet and issue you with your certificate. Each discipline welcomes candidates from any discipline who want to learn and understand basic judging in a relaxed and friendly environment. Who is it aimed at: This is the ideal starting point to set you on the pathway to becoming a great judge Candidates who are completely new to judging and want to judge at JumpSTART competitions on behalf of their club. Candidates who currently have a judging qualification (at any level) from a different discipline e.g. An acrobatics judge who wants to judge at the JumpSTART rhythmic event Criteria for Eligibility: Candidates booking on this course must be 16 years old and current members of Gymnastics Ireland Candidates aged 16 and above must have completed Garda Vetting and Safeguard Training Any parent(s)/guardian(s) of a candidate under the age of 18 must complete the online consent form when creating an account on LearnUpon. Course Syllabus: 2-3 hours(depending on the discipline) online session learning the basics of judging and how to sit and judge technique on a fun panel Each course will focus on the new JumpSTART routines, how the elements should be performed and how to recognise what gymnasts are not executing correctly The online session will be interactive so you can ask and receive as much information as you need The is no formal exam or assessment Qualification: To achieve your qualification and certification you must complete the following: Attend the full duration of the online zoom theory session Attend the full duration of an upcoming JumpSTART event in your discipline and judge under the support and supervision of the Head of Judging. Upon completion of the event, you will present your JumpSTART Judging Log Sheet to the appropriate Head of Judging for sign off. You must upload a copy of the Judging Log Sheet through this LMS platform as part of the course completion and certification process. Introduction to Foundation Coaching - Club Participation Coaching As part of the new coach education pathway the GymSTART foundation coaching course will serve as the first entry point for you to begin your coaching journey through either the GymSTART or Discipline Specific coaching pathways. After completion of this course and under the direct assistance and supervision of a lead coach, you will be certified and accredited to assist and support safe, fun, and participant-centred gymnastics sessions within your club. The course will provide you with the key skills needed to assist and support a Level 1 or Level 2 (and above) coach in delivering fundamental gymnastics skills within your syllabus, across any participation/recreational level programmes that run in your club. * Please note this course is suitable for participants involved in any gymnastics discipline. What will be the course involve?: eLearning: You will complete a short series of eLearning modules through our LMS platform. The modules will explore an introduction to a participant centred approach to coaching gymnastics at a foundation level and you will discover the very basic principles around how to coach skills at a recreational/participation level. Completion of these eLearning modules is compulsory, as you will be expected to demonstrate the content covered when involved with coaching at your club. Practical day coaching: You will learn how to safely coach and develop the fundamental gymnastics skills on your syllabus that form the foundation to all gymnastics disciplines. Throughout the day you will work with your peers developing your participant centred approach to coaching children. There will also be continuous group-based activities aiming to introduce and develop some of the basic ‘how to coach’ skills. Course Description The MAG Level 1 course is the first level of coaching qualification on the discipline specific, coaching pathway which is quality assured and awarded by Sport Ireland Coaching. The course will provide an introduction to coaching men's artistic gymnastics and ideal for interested individuals to coach at performance levels in a club setting. For further details on the course syllabus please see below in objectives. Criteria for Eligibility Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Any parent(s)/guardian(s) of a candidate under the age of 18 must complete the online consent form in order to create an account on LearnUpon and to access any online content. This form must be completed before course enrollment. Who is this Aimed at: Candidates who wish to further their knowledge and skills within gymnastics coaching, and operate independently taking responsibility of sessions. As a level 2 coach you will also be able to lead your own sessions, mentor and oversee fellow coaches, and open your own club. You can also help participants develop the skills required to compete in participation and national event competitions.
